What I’m drooling over….

When my El Naturalista Iggdrasil mary janes arrived, I took a moment to look at the frog insignia printed on top of the box and thought, “This might be my one and only time looking down at this little fella after tearing open a little box of gold delivered by UPS (i.e. a shoe box).”

Who the heck am I kidding?

My review of the Iggdrasils gave Chez Shoes the final push she needed to buy a pair for herself (although I feel certain that by now, she also has a red pair on their way to her door), and in return she convinced me (unintentionally, of course) that I needs me some EN mary janes in black. So I’m pondering my next purchase, but in the meantime, here’s what I’m drooling over. This is where you should stop and get a napkin before scrolling down. Really. Go now.

I don’t have a red pair on the way to my door – I have them on my feet! I discovered that El Naturalista has a store in Santa Monica, close to where I work, and stopped by Friday night. It was shoe heaven!

The really fun thing was that the store has tons of sample shoes, all for $50-$100. And all one size too big for me, but it did give me a general idea about which styles work for high-arched folks like me. The Dryland sole? Super uncomfortable, no support, and not enough wiggle room, so I can check that off my list. The Nasca and Organico soles, on the other hand, were great. Now I just need to find some on sale!

I knew it! You belong in shoe rehab even more than me! I did hear about the shop in Santa Monica–all the good stuff is on the opposite side of the country from me (they need to open one in New York or Boston).

Thanks for the heads up on the Dryland–it’s off my list, too. I’m super excited about the Organicos. Hope they fit.

The other shoe I pondered (and will probably spring for in the near future) was the Lilac Nasca at backcountry.com. It’s on sale for 128.00. Did you see it? Dumb question, right? If the lilac or cuero suit your fancy, they have both in little feet size :)
