So I ordered these instead

**Update 10/10/08.  Got them today, and almost cried when I saw how HUGE they were.  These definitely don’t run small, so my normal 39 should do.  But they actually sent me a 41.  My toes didn’t even make it to the cutout detail.  39 was not available in brown, so I’m hoping they’ll exchange them for the green.  I have to say Planet shoes has been good otherwise–they processed my return the day the received it, so a refund should be coming soon…followed by this one, then hopefully I will receive a pair that works.  Very frustrated with EN’s sizing right now–I’m hoping the Iggdrasil wasn’t their one crowning achievement.**

in a size 40–hope that when I get them they don’t look fit for Sasquatch.  I almost got the Prado olive/green combo, but I realized that I really don’t have brown shoes.  At least these should have more support than the Organicos.

Are these from Planet Shoes also? How was your experience with them? I’d heard so many bad things for so long that I’ve never tried them. But they have such a great selection!

Yep, Planet Shoes again. I was about to buy them from Backcountry for $10 less–but their “free” shipping is economy 7-14 days and I’ve become such an addict that I was willing to pay the extra money to get them within 2 days thru UPS Ground. Also, at least I know PS has free return shipping.

I did a lot of reading and saw the many negative comments about Planet Shoes’s policies. It seems they’ve changed some of their ridiculous ways (like not refunding shipping charges even when they sent the wrong item). My first experience went well– they do email you a tracking # and the return process is easy, much like it is at Zappos. Let’s see how quickly they credit me for the shoes I returned. So far so good, though. I would say they’re safe–you probably need another pair as much as I do, but this week you totally deserve to be good to yourself :)

They do have a good selection (which isn’t saying much–I think we need to plan a trip to Spain) though they don’t have any boots in a 39 or 40, so I was a little bummed. I’ll see how the bigger size works with these, but I’m in trouble if they’re anywhere as awesome as the Iggdrasils, because I like the Prado and the Violet…..and the red Iggdrasil. What to do….. Marcelle or Iggdrasil.

So, where does the shoe saga stand now? I’m torn between ordering a pair of the Organicos (which PS seems to have restocked, since they have my size now) or another pair of Ginkgo mary janes (which I’ll be blogging about soon – I have a feeling you might like them) OR maybe the Nasca…

The sizing does seem to be really off – very similar to Camper shoes. I think it’s especially troublesome for those of us who seem to fall between sizes, since there are no half-size options.

The only solution? A trip to Spain.

Not terribly… the sizing is a bit funny and as with all EN shoes I’ve tried, they don’t allow a high instep–I could barely fasten the strap. The stitching didn’t rub at all, but they were just awkward looking to me, so I returned them. As much as I love EN, I still only own one style.

I love my Iggdrasil’s but I also find a lot of EN’s footbeds too flat for my feet. I’ve found some other shoe styles that have the same base as the Iggdrasil and they fit fine (although I find the clog super floppy and uncomfortable!).
I’m very lucky that there’s a local retailer who carries a great deal of the EN line as trying them on has proven to be a very important. Canada might be closer than Spain, and we’re both worth the trip… but there’s nothing like Europe in the spring!!
